55# steel is cheap and easy to process. The mold cost can be controlled easily with 55# steel. As the general custom keypads mold structure is simple, we just use to make the sample tooling to confirm the structure before production or the silicone products order quantity is small. Because the cycle of the production is not so long, 55# steel can meet the requirements.
When we customize silicone miscellaneous, silicone seal, precision parts, silicone case, or sex products for our clients, we will not use the 55# steel, because these kinds of product's requirements of precision is relatively high. Usually we have to choose the better steel, just like P20 718 S136, etc.. This kinds of steel cost is much more higher than 55# steel and harder to process, so the mold price is expensive, but if we need to make more difficult structure or design special grain on the product surface, this kinds of steel mold will have more advantages. In a word, if the production cycle is long, the surface effect requirements are strict or the mold need polishing or plating, we generally recommended to use this kind of steel mold.
